Materials We Use
Every repair uses materials chosen for durability, authenticity and the right match for your item. Here is a guide to the main materials, soles and hardware we work with.
Sole Materials
Swiss-made high-performance rubber soles. Exceptional grip, durability and resistance to wear. We hold Vibram resoling training certification.
British-made studded rubber sole, traditional in appearance and highly durable. A premium choice for Goodyear-welted shoes.
Natural leather soles for formal and dress shoes. They breathe, mould to the foot and can be resoled multiple times.
Soft, cushioned natural rubber with excellent shock absorption. Used in desert boots and casual footwear.
Lightweight foam soles used in sport and casual footwear. We match compound hardness and colour as closely as possible.
Leather Types
The highest quality hide, with the outer layer intact. Strongest, most durable and develops a beautiful patina over time.
The second highest quality - sanded to remove imperfections, then finished. Consistent in appearance, used widely in luxury bags.
Split leather with a soft, napped finish. Requires specialist cleaning techniques and protective treatment to maintain.
Top-grain leather buffed to create a velvet-like surface. Softer than suede, more sensitive to water and staining.
Shell from the rump of the horse - extremely dense, glossy and highly resistant to creasing. Used in premium shoes.
Lacquered leather with a high-gloss finish. Requires specific cleaning and conditioning to avoid cracking.
Hardware & Fasteners
Japan's most trusted zip manufacturer. We use YKK across all zip replacements for reliability and long-term performance.
Swiss luxury zip brand, used in premium bags and leather goods. Smooth operation and premium finish.
Heavy, durable and develops an attractive patina. Used in high-end bags, belts and equestrian leather.
Bright, consistent finish often used in contemporary bags and luggage. We match existing hardware closely.
Threads & Finishing
Traditional saddle-stitch thread used in high-quality leather goods and saddlery. Strong, waxed for weather resistance.
Machine-stitching thread for general repairs. Matched precisely to the original colour and weight.
Applied to the cut edge of leather to protect and finish it. We colour-match to within the nearest available shade.
Professional-grade dyes, top coats and colour correctors used for recolouring, touching up and restoration work.
